Stitchin' For A Cause

Good afternoon friends! We have some exciting news! For the next three months, we will be giving a portion of our proceeds towards 3 different causes.

First up:
We have been made aware of a local family in need this holiday season. So for the month of November, 15% of every order will go to this mother, father and two children in need of shelter and food.
We will be updating regularly with what we are able to provide for this family with your help! Thank you in advance for helping us help this family!

At the end of November, we will announce two other charities/organizations that we will give to for December and January. You get to pick which one is first!

American Flag Placemat

There's still time to stitch these up in time for the weekend!

I used Red Heart yarn and size I (5.50mm) hook and got a finished size of 13" x 19". I like my placemats a bit bigger, if you want them a bit smaller, maybe try the next hook size down. You will want to use a lighter weight yarn or crochet thread with the appropriate size hook for the stars so they will all fit. Alternatively, you could use a worsted weight yarn and make one large star in place of the 5 small ones using the pattern from my 4th of July Star Lovey.

Pattern:
(with red) ch 62
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, repeat from * to end of row, turn
Row 2: ch 2 (counts as first hdc), *sc in next hdc, hdc in next sc repeat from * to end of row, turn
Row 3: ch 1, *sc in next hdc, hdc in next sc, repeat from * to end of row, turn

Switch to white
Row 4: repeat row 2
Row 5: repeat row 3
Row 6: repeat row 2

Switch to Red
Row 7: repeat row 3
Row 8: repeat row 2
Row 9: repeat row 3

4th of July Star Lovey

I just love how this project turned out! For the blanket part, I followed the You Are My Sunshine pattern by Cre8tion Crochet, working 10 rows red, 2 rows white, 2 rows blue, and the border round in blue. For the star, I made 2 with white and stitched them together with wrong sides together (pattern below). I used an I hook and Red Heart yarn, mine completed measures approximately 20" square.

Star Pattern

Make 2
(with 2 strands white held together)
Start with MR
Rnd 1: ch 3, 14 dc into ring, sl st to top of beg ch 3 to join, pull yarn tail to close ring.
Rnd 2: *ch 6, sc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in last ch, sk next 2 dc on rnd 1, sl st in next dc (star point made)
Repeat from * for remaining 4 star points, sl st to the bottom of the 1st ch 6 to join.
Border: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, working 3 sc in the tip of each point, sl st to 1st sc to join. finish off, weave in ends

With wrong sides (back sides) together, using a yarn needle and length of white yarn, stitch 2 stars together and attach to center of blanket/lovey.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy this project! :)

Autism Awareness Blanket

I finally finished this blanket for a girl at work. It took the better part of 2 months to complete. I changed the pattern up a couple times, and actually learned to crochet left handed on this one so I wouldn't have to turn after each row. I think she is going to be happy with the final result! :)
