A Mitten Silverware Pocket/Hanging Ornament Pattern for FREE!

ABBREVIATIONS
ch- chain
sl st- slip stitch
sc- single crochet



MATERIALS
Hook: sizes F and H
Yarn: small amounts of worsted weight yarn
in red and white (or colors of your choice)




DIRECTIONS
Mitten: (Worked in the round unless otherwise stated in pattern. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each row. Move the stitch marker as you work each row.)
With red and H hook
Ch 2 (if you prefer, you can start with a magic ring/circle and work 6 sc into the center, then move to row 2)


Row 1: 6 sc into 2nd ch from hook


Row 2: 2 sc in each sc (12)


Row 3: (2 sc in the 1st st, sc in the next st) repeat 6 times (18)


Row 4: (2 sc in the 1st st, sc in the next 2 sts) repeat 6 times (24)


Rows 5-14: sc in ea st around (24)


Row 15: sc in the next 10 sts, ch 4, sk 4 sts, sc in the next 10 sts (20 sc, 1 ch4 sp)


Row 16: sc in the next 10 sts, sc in each of the next 4 chs, sc in the next 10 sts (24)


Row 17-20: sc in each st around, switching to white in the last stitch of row 20 (24)


Row 21-27: sc in each st around (24)
Finish off, weave in ends. Fold white rows (row 21-27) down over mitten to create the top cuff.


Thumb:
with red
ch 2 (or use magic ring/circle with 4 sc into the center, move to row 2 instructions)


Row 1: 4 sc into the 2nd ch from hook


Row 2: 2 sc in each st (8)


Row 3-8: sc in each st around (8)
Finish off, leaving a long tail of yarn. Use the yarn tail to sew the thumb to the opening created in row 15/16 on the mitten.



Snowflake:
with white
ch 5, join with a slip stitch to make a ring

Round 1: ch 1, (2 sc into ring, ch 3) 6 times join with a sl st to the 1st sc (6 ch3 loops)

Round 2: sl st in the next sc, ch 1, (2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc) in each ch 3 loop around, join with sl st to the 1st sc
Finish off, leaving a long tail of yarn. Use the yarn tail to sew the snowflake to the front of the mitten.

(optional) if you would like to use the mitten as an ornament, join white yarn at upper edge of mitten, ch 10, and join with sl st in the same stitch used to join. Finish off, weave in ends.

Perfect Man Hat

The other day was opening day for gun season and my husband asked me for a warm hat that would be visible to other hunters. So I worked up this beanie for him in a night :) I shared the pictures in a crochet group and was asked to share the pattern so here it is! A woman commented calling it "the perfect man hat" so I figured that is what I'd call it! Enjoy!



Perfect Man Hat
Yarn used: Caron simply soft in orange & Red Heart super saver in camo Hook size G
Form Magic Loop Ch2 and make 10dc into magic loop, pull tight, join to the top of first stitch made (not ch2)
Row 1: Ch2 (does not count as DC now or throughout pattern) 2dc into same stitch as ch2. 2dc into each of the next stitches
Row 2: Ch2, 2dc into same stitch as ch2. *dc in next stitch, 2dc in the next* Repeat from * around.
Row 3: Ch2, 2dc into same stitch as ch2. *dc in next 2 stitches, 2dc in the next* Repeat from * around. Join to top of first dc.
Row 4: Ch2, 2dc into same stitch as ch2. *dc in next 3 stitches, 2dc in the next* Repeat from * around. Join to top of first dc.
Row 5: Ch2, 2dc into same stitch as ch2. *dc in next 4 stitches, 2dc in the next* Repeat from * around. Join to top of first dc.
Row 6: Ch2, 2dc into same stitch as ch2. *dc in next 5 stitches, 2dc in the next* Repeat from * around. Join to top of first dc.
Row 7: Ch2, 2dc into same stitch as ch2. *dc in next 6 stitches, 2dc in the next* Repeat from * around. Join to top of first dc.
Row 8-12: Ch2, dc into the same stitch as ch2 and every stitch around.
---Switch to second color---
Row 13-14: Ch1, sc in each stitch around. Join to first sc.
Row 15: Ch 2, dc in each stitch around.
Row 16-20: Ch2, FPDC around the post of first dc from last row, BPDC around the post of next dc. *FPDC, BPDC* Repeat from * around. Join to top of first dc.
Finish off and weave in ends.
