Valentine's Day Goody Bag

Ok, technically it isn't Friday anymore.. but I've been up all night, so it's still Friday night for me! Here is our very first "Free Pattern Friday" :)




What you'll need:
  • Hook Size: G
  • Small amounts of worsted weight yarn, red and white or whatever colors you'd like
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • A coordinating button (if you choose to use one)
Dimensions- 3" tall not including handles, 4" wide
Guage is not important with this project

Terms:
  • sc- single crochet
  • sl st- slip stitch

Base: (with main color)
ch 16
Round 1:  sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (15)
Round 2:  ch 1 turn sc in each sc across (15)
Rounds 3-6:  repeat round 2 switching to coordinating color in last sc
Round 7:  ch 1, turn, sc around all four edges, putting 2 sc in each corner. sl st to first sc to join. (6 sc along each short edge, 15 sc along each long edge)

Side 1: (with main color)
Round 1:  ch 1 sc in back loops of next 15 sc (15)
Round 2:  ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across (15)
Rounds 3-15: Repeat round 2
sl st down side of work to base (-OR- finish off, sl st into base to create next side)

Side 2:
Round 1:  ch 1, sc in front loops of next 6 sc (6)
Round 2:  sc in each stitch across (6)
Rounds 3-15: Repeat round 2
sl st down side of work to base

Side 3
:
Round 1:  ch 1 sc in front loops of next 15 sc (15)
Round 2:  sc in each stitch across (15)
Rounds 3-15: Repeat round 2
sl st down side of work to base

Side 4
:
Repeat side 2

Finish off. Weave in ends

Using coordinating color, sl st into base, putting hook through the edges of two sides, sc together. Repeat until all sides are crocheted together, sc around top of bag.

Handles:
sl st into one top corner of bag, ch 30 (or however you'd like the handles to be)
sl st into opposite corner making sure not to twist the chain, sc in each stitch across, sl st into top of bag, finish off.
Repeat for second handle, weave in ends.

The pattern used for the flower is soon to come! You may also use any flower/applique pattern you'd like.
